Pakistan to play opener against Australia on Wednesday//

ISLAMABAD, Nov 7 :Pakistan will play its first match against hosts Australia on Wednesday in the International Festival of Hockey at Melbourne’s State Netball Hockey Centre. The 4-Nation tournament also features New Zealand and Japan, said a press release issued here from Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF). After the single league, the top two teams would play the final, with the bottom two featuring in the third position game. Australia, the reigning world champions who are no 2 in the FIH rankings, are the favourites. New Zealand (ranked 8) are expected to offer the toughest competition in the tournament. It will be a surprise if any of the Asia sides, Pakistan (ranked 13) and Japan (ranked 16), makes it to the final. Pakistan will play New Zealand on Thursday (November) and Japan on Saturday (November 11). The final and third position match will be played on Sunday (November 12)
