ISLAMABAD, Nov 6 :Only 36 percent Pakistani population on average, including 41 percent urban and 32 percent rural is using safe drinking water in the country, a world Health Organization report revealed.Results of the water quality monitoring efforts of Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) indicate that 69 to 85 percent collected samples of water were contaminated. The Ministry of Science and Technology has established 24 Water Quality Monitoring Laboratories all over the country to check quality of water on the provided samples, an official of ministry told APP.

Speaking on the occasion, the Planning Minister said as we have opened various sectors particularly tourism, there is need to trace, track and test those people who are linked with various sectors.Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri briefed the forum that assistance is being sought from Ulema for formulating comprehensive protocols and health guidelines during Muharram procession.The provinces apprised the NCOC plan of action to meet challenges post opening up various sectors.

Web Desk ::The third death anniversary of Dr. Ruth Katherina Martha Pfau, who devoted more than 55 years of her life to fighting leprosy in Pakistan, is being observed on Monday.Pfau was born on September 9, 1929, in Leipzig, Germany, to Lutheran parents, Walter and Martha Pfau. She was the fourth of five daughters, and also had a baby brother.
As a teenager, she barely survived World War II; on the night of December 4, 1943, at the age of 14, she witnessed a bombing that destroyed her house.
Later, she was inspired to become a doctor after her baby brother became ill and died.After the war, at the age of 19, she followed her father to Wiesbaden in West Germany, where she pursued an education in medicine at the University of Mainz in Marburg.
While a student, she met an elderly Dutch Christian woman, a concentration camp survivor, who had dedicated her life to “preaching love and forgiveness”.After rejecting a marriage proposal from a fellow student, she was baptized in the Evangelical tradition in 1951, before her conversion to Roman Catholicism in 1953.

According to ISPR, Pakistan Army and Navy rescue teams, including medical and engineering teams, are assisting civil administration to rescue stranded people to safer places.
Hot meal is being served to stranded people. Jhal Magsi-Gandawah main colonies have been connected with the rest of province. Pasi Bridge has been opened for all kinds of traffic and Coastal Highway has been restored.
In Jhal Magsi, all Hindu families struck in Wangu hills have been rescued to safer places after eight hours long rescue operation.
N-65 National Highway is blocked near Bibi Nani Bridge and Pinjra Bridge due to high level of water.
Main gas transmission line has got damaged near Bibi Nani Bridge.
Due to rains and hill torrents, Quetta-Jacobabbad, Gawadar-Karachi and Sibbi- Kohlu roads have been blocked at various places.
