Govt promotes mountaineering tourism in GB: Minister

ASTORE, Oct 19 :Provincial Minister for Tourism, Fida Khan Fida said here Thursday the government was endeavouring to promote mountaineering tourism in the province and was in touch with reputable firms and companies to provide better facilities to foreign and domestic tourists in Gilgit Baltistan. Talking to media persons here, the minister said Gilgit Baltistan was an ideal place for winter tourism referring to K2 and Nanga Parbath tallest peaks and talks were held with several companies and firms to develop and promote adventure and mountaineering tourism in the province. Owing to personal interest of Chief Minister Hafeez-ur-Rehman, he said, the Tourism Department has improved facilities in Government rest houses and other touristic places for comfort of tourists. The GB had seen huge influx of tourists this summer seasons where they enjoyed tallest peaks, lush green meadows, waterfalls and beautiful valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan. Safrnaga cold desert rally has also enhanced Pakistan’s image of being tourists’ friendly country worldwide.
